Extremely Winter hardy variety with leaves that turn purple in the cold. Also useful for use as an ornamental with large flower heads in the second year.

Sow from March onwards. Sow a few seeds in a seed tray, cover lightly with compost and place on a sunny windowsill or in a greenhouse. Germination takes 7-14 days. Plant out when the thickness of a pencil.
