Rocket, Wild 'Wasabi Seeds

Plant Information:

Diplotaxis tenuiflora

Sow: April to August 
Harvest: April to October

Selection with the fiery flavour of Wasabi or Horseradish. Very vigorous with fatter leaves than the standard form; best harvested at baby leaf stage.

Sowing instructions:

Start off indoors from March or sow direct late April. Sow thinly and then cover with compost and seeds should germinate in 7-14 days. 

Growing instructions:

Harvest when the leaves are young and soft - the older the leaf, the hotter and more bitter it will be. Allow to flower if you want to harvest the flowers, which are lovely tossed in with new potatoes and a bit of butter or oil.

Notes:

Perennial, so will come back for a few years. 

Try it in sushi or fajitas.
